Maybe we all had our heads buried in the sand. It's possible that America's booming economy of the 1990s and the industrial expansion of countries like India and China just clouded our vision. Maybe it was the explosive dawn of the e-commerce era that distracted our attention from tried and tested economic principles. Despite all of that, though, I can't quite get past that nagging feeling that somehow, we all should have seen this coming.
The signs were there. Although we sometimes preferred to ignore it, and although we still don't know exactly how much longer it will last, we have always known that our oil supply is limited. The demand for oil has been outpacing production and refining for years. And then, of course, there is that pesky little reality of global warming. We may not be sure about its root cause, or to what degree we are affecting it, but all of the rationalization in the world can't get rid of these three simple truths, that 1. global warming is real; 2. we are, to some degree, contributing to it; and 3. it is affecting our lives more every year.
Just like many of us put off studying in high school until the night before the exam, it has taken us years to come to grips with our energy reality. Sure, the technology was available. People were even using it. The people, however, just wasn't quite disturbed enough by their electricity bills, their gas prices, or the changing climate.
Luckily, that is all starting to change. This blog is intended to be a resource for all who feel involved to find useful information on how to beat the energy problems of today to prepare for a better tomorrow. Here, you will find information on the latest research and studies on alternative energy. You can be up-to-date on the latest technology, learn which forms of alternate energy best fit your lifestyle, and learn how you can contribute to a progressive energy future for our country and our planet.
The world we shape will be the world our children and grandchildren inherit - let's make it a good one.
